Another Serbian talent moves to East…

Following the fate of his former teammate Zvonimir Vukic (Zvonimir Vukić) and many other Serbian young talents such as Nemanja Vidic (Nemanja Vidić) this week Partizan Beograd’s extra talented midfielder Simon Vukcevic (Simon Vukčević) has pledged his loyalty to Saturn Ramenskoe by signing a contract that will keep him in Russia for at least three years but if both sides find it fit the deal can be extended for two more seasons.
Whether this is a bad or good move by Partizan’s officials is yet to be seen since there are many cases of Serbian youth that got ‘’lost’’ in Russian or Ukrainian championships and never made their breakthrough but there are also exceptions where players like Ognjen Koroman, Nemanja Vidic and Goran Gavrancic who have became leaders of their team’s and entered the group of most paid players in Russia and Ukraine, let’s hope that will happen for Vukcevic too.
The financial arrangement of this transfer is 4,000,000 euros and by looking through some biographies of the midfielders in Saturn’s ranks it seems like the Serb wont have much competition except for the Uruguayan international Javier Delgado and veteran Andrei Kanchelskis who’s 36 at the moment, the remaining players in the link are not covering his side of the pitch or are too unnoticed to represent a threat.
Vukcevic is gifted with fine technique, solid tackle and dribbling skills, fine movements in the opponents half and extra powerful shooting abilities that he can use almost from any free kick positions. There’s no doubt that many will look at this move as a bad decision since everybody expected the talented youngster to play in some giant from the Western Europe but that didn’t happen.
By the agreement Vukcevic will only join Saturn after Partizan finish their last two games in the Serbian-Montenegrin Super League when winter break will officially begin in this former Yugoslav republic.
Beside Vukcevic Saturn has already two Serbs in their ranks Milan Lesnjak (Milan Lešnjak) and Nikola Jolovic (Nikola Jolović) who both play in the defensive line. Thirty year old Lesnjak has played for Crvena zvezda at the beginning of the 1990s but he moved abroad only after proving himself in FK Obilic from where he joined Club Brugge in 1998 while he came to Saturn in 2003 and has made just 27 appearances in three seasons.
Jolovic on the other hand has some similarities with Vukcevic as he also came to Russia as a very young and gifted footballer but after two good seasons in 2002 and 2003 when he was a standard in Torpedo Moscow he quickly fell to shadow until he got loaned this year to Saturn with whom he made 12 appearances and scored 1 goal
